You can’t miss with a deck of cards simply because of the range of games for various age ranges. That’s what my youngsters and I did though in the tent. I the moment had a card game at house and the children talked me onto setting up the tent in the living room.

Punishment is to be fed to a bear.
Don’t do it and don’t worry
Depends on where you get caught. In Yosemite National Park it’s several hundred dollars and maybe a night in jail according to their web site;

You do realize they pay people to patrol National Parks, National Forests and preserves. Also many areas are patrolled by aircraft and look out towers during fire season. You might get away with it a bunch of times or get caught the very first time.
There are ways to camp for free in the back country. The Bureau of land management (BLM) allows camping in many places they oversee. Some areas are quite remote others easy access.
Some require a small fee of $ 5 to $ 10 and some are free.

Check the web site of BLM for the state you wish to camp in for maps and regulations.
Here is a web site about boon docking (camping for free in the undeveloped remote camping areas);

Some states have state land you can camp on for free. My state Alaska allows you to camp for several days at a time in one location and you only have to move camp a reasonable distance to stay even longer. Some areas cost but most are free. I know many that just live in the woods here all summer camping in remote wilderness areas and in areas not remote, for free. So check with the state of your interest.
Also in many areas of National Forest in Alaska you can camp for free. But again there is a limit on days you can stay in one spot.
So if you do some research you won’t have to break the law.
In most National parks to camp in the back country doesn’t cost anything. The permit is free. Each park has different rules, in most of Yosemite Park you can camp provided you are at least one mile from a road.
Law enforcement take people camping illegally very seriously, the attitude being, what else are you doing illegally? It’s very possibly a night,{or week-end} in jail, a bunch of citations,{not just one} all requiring a court appearance{possibly multiple appearances}. Doesn’t it just seem easier to abide by the rules or go elsewhere. In a National Forest normally you don’t need a permit and dispered camping is allowed in more areas.
Many parks will have designated camp sites which may have access to water, waste disposal, and maybe even showers, toilets, supplies, and barbeques/fire pits. I would recommend going as remote as you want during the day, then bedding at a camp site. If you like to rough it, nobody is forcing you to use any of these amenities but I’m just warning you that a night in prison and a steep fine might be a little “rougher” than you bargained for.

Ummm I can think of one… but Y! will delete it… and you should think of it on your own.
Rhymes with buck. Can also involve suck.
I always like poker. It’s fun and everyone can play. I like to have some type of candy or food to use instead of chips to bet with. Lifesavers always work.
You could play Dungeons & Dragons if someone on the trip is into that, brings their books and dice, and is willing to run you through a 1st level adventure. Failing that you could pick up a book of short stories by H.P. Lovecraft and take turns reading aloud.
