i wasn’t aware that our orientation made a difference but. rei coop puts out a list of camping supplies as do many of the outdoor stores. check their web site, also try bassproshops.com, cabela’s and gander mountain. the biggest thing is to not go with the gay chip on your shoulder and enjoy the camping trip for the experience of being with friends.
I am one of the founders of these trips to the river every summer for the last 10 years. If you look at the pics I’m the one with the beer in my hand.

IDK, sleeping bags, tents…
mix some jungle juice up before going bring lots of water and aspirin -NOT -ibuprofen bad on liver w/ alcohol.
take both!
remember to bring mix for the hard liquor and cups
and you can’t camp without marshmellows and hot dogs!!
all the other campers will love you for sharing!
Lots of beer, and a handle of some liquor. Captain & coke, vodka & lemonade, etc.
