You can inform scary stories at evening, go swimming or fishing, hikes. Based on exactly where you are going the options are distinctive. Is there a web-site for your campground? Final time I went camping it was on my Uncle’s house and we walked the one.5miles to Dairy Queen with the kids in a wagon.

Word games are good till it gets dark, get everyone to come up with 3 categories (girl’s name, country, excuse for being late, sports etc) and choose a random letter, set a time limit and write something for each category beginning with the chosen letter… Really fun when you get to sharing your answers – they get silly when people start grabbing at straws! Especially if you cancel them out if two people have the same answers, means people go for the less obvious.
Frisbee!
As someone else said a game of Frisbee is great. And a Frisbee doesn’t take up much space.
It also depends on where in the USA (or world for that matter you are) and what kind of camping environment you’re in (spans from RV park to serious back country)
Most areas provide some sort of wildlife spotting.
If your carful and use only FALLEN wood (don’t pull anything off of a live plant) you can enjoy some wood carving.
An oldie but goldie is charades. (Write down a good list of things before you go, look on the web for some funny/good ones)
Card games.
Star gazing (a small cheap book on constellations is worth its weight in gold)
Friendly prank wars (scare the crap out of each other… but in a safe way)
Sometimes you will find yourself burning up all your time just sitting around a good fire and/or food just shooting the sh…. crap. So you might not be bored at all. But be prepared.
Lastly word games can get old quick so don’t try too many of them. A great one that gets people thinking is called simply “famous people”. It’s simple once you get it. Starting with a name of anyone famous, weather it is Hollywood, historical, sports … people will have to come up with names based upon the name last used. An example is easiest to explain how it works. If the first name is Benjamin Franklin the next person would have to say the name of a famous person whose first name starts with F because the last name of the one just said started with F. So the next person could say Franklin D. Roosevelt. The next person would be on R (because of course Roosevelt starts with an R) so they would have to think of someone famous whose first name starts with an R, like Ryan Seacrest (spelling?) this one gets a lot of fun when you start running out of names. You can enact mild comical punishment for anyone who repeats a name. By the way, no fictional characters. I know. Long description for such a simple game.
