Question by binsky734: What are some excellent non-state park camping locations in Texas?
A group of associates and I are arranging on going camping for spring break in Texas, but we just located out that drinking is illegal in state parks, so I am hunting for a great non-state park to camp in.

I want to go on a trip with all free camping. I’ll be receiving close to by moped. Actual mopeds, the kind that you can pedal or use the motor. What are some good places to camp for free? I don’t care about the facilities or anything. I just want a location exactly where I can pitch a tent and have a fire.

The midwest is a rather darn significant location.You may well get a answer if you narrow it down to a state or two

Lake Fork has nice camping areas and cabins. Several of the larger lakes have camp grounds. Cedar Creek has several some nice some not so nice. Proctor Lake has some. Mexia, Richland Chambers are some I know of.
Try looking up “Boondocking” this is another term used by folks that want free places to camp. Also yahoo has a group that shares info on boondocking.
