Question by fonzarelli_1999: How do I make a excellent cup of coffee when camping?
I’ve tried these darn percolator pots and the small instant coffee bags and still can’t get a decent cup of coffee when I’m out camping. Any concepts?

Me and my buddy are organizing a camping trip. We do not know what to bring due to the fact we do not have electricity or refrigeration or any true way to cook anything. What need to we bring to eat for the weekend?

bring your own coffee pot from home because even though its camping there’s nothing like early morning and good coffee
Last year I bought a coffee maker that you can put right on a propane stove. It was only like 40$ at Walmart and it makes great coffee. So thats an idea if you already have a propane stove- if not than try a french press.
Best coffee I ever had was in Greece. I finally asked someone there how they make their coffee so good.
They told me it was actually Nescafe crystals with a touch of evaporated milk.
That’s all you need apart from the hot water.
well honestly you really cant have the perfect coffee on a camping trip. your best move would to be to bring a little cooking stove and your own coffee pot and some coffee gran bags that they sell at target and walmart and places like that, for camping. and hope for the best.
good luck
Nescafe makes a new kind of instant crystals, single serving.
Also, try purchasing a bottle of espresso, for the extra strength coffee you enjoy. Those old fashioned coffee pots for 4 to 6 cups with the stand in coffee grounds holder may work over a campfire, with a screen as the trivet, they don’t cost much. If it holds up you can reuse it, or buy a used one, thank you.
I recommend an inexpensive coffee press to throw in with your camping gear. Coffee presses make the best coffee whether you are camping or not.
All you have to do is boil water (in your camping pot or tea kettle) and pour it over the coffee grounds in the press, stir, wait approximately 5 minutes then … press. Yum!! Always perfect coffee.
My father used to carry a French Press with him. It’s a miniature coffee pot with a plunger/filter in it. They work quite well. Personally, I just boil water and dump grounds in it and then let it seep for a few minutes. Bring a filter with you (either paper or one of those reusable filter screens) and simply pour it through your filter/screen into the cup. Pouring a couple of spoonfuls of cold water into the boiled coffee helps the grounds settle so that you dont need a filter, but that never worked very well for me.
“Bialetti” makes a stovetop moka coffee maker that works beautifully for camping.
Thats what I’ve used for years on my gas powered camping stove. They have many different sizes as well.
You wont regret it.
Some mentioned “French Press” (aka Bodum). They work well also but most are made with glass. If you can find a non-glass Bodum, then that would be good.
Start with good beans, that are fresh roasted. I personally home roast my coffee beans. Buy a good stainless steel moka pot. It is an Italian stove top coffee maker. It is going to make an almost espresso style coffee. Otherwise you can heat the water and use a French Press, or pour through a cone filter.
Graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate bars. Need I say more??
Okay, maybe I do need to say more:
No refridgeration? Like no coolers? Bring coolers.
Bring Dinty Moore beef stew and other soup-y things that can be cooked over a fire. Also bring fruit and granola bars to snack on. And btw, Spam lasts forever with no refridgeration XD. Bring Spam and a loaf of Wonder Bread.
stuff to make smores with!! : Gram crackers, hersheys chocolate, marshmellows
its great for camping!!
Wow I love camping.
1-You will need a camping bag to sleep, tend and please don’t forget your pillow.
2- You can get a small stove for camping and it come with gas so you can cook or you can get marshmallow, hot dogs, a pot to warm the water, alcohol to light the fire. Plastic cups, plates and bread for the hot dog, soft drinks, hot cocoa powder, corns are good for camping, potatoes chips, make sure that there is not much salt on it, fruits, lots of them and soup if you will be in cool place.
3 You don’t need refrigerator if you are camping near water you can keep everything that goes in the refrigerator inside the water it will keep things cooler, but make sure that you tight it well so no animals will open it.
I am so jealous. I use to do it all the time back my hometown, but now I have no time for this. Make sure you bring music and lots of stories. You will need flash lighter, first aid kit, noise objects and map if you are also going for hiking. Make sure to bring a sharp knife and toilet paper. Hahaha. Ohhh Can I go with you guys…please.
Take lots of picture and enjoy it and please don’t forget the repellant to kill mosquitoes. I wish you a fun trip and happy camping…
Labriute males (labriute, com), graham crackers, canned tuna in oil, marshmallows, chocolate candy bars, charcoal for campground ovens, lighters, peanut butter, snack crackers of all kinds.
If it’s a whole weekend, you’re going to need to stock up on food. Non-perishables are best, but so long as you have a cooler, you can bring other things as well.
Good nonperishable camping foods include:
-Trail Mix, Granola Bars, etc.
-Canned soups and stews
-Canned beans
-Canned anything, if you can stand it (Personally, I don’t mind canned veggies, but they aren’t for everyone. Test them out before bringing them on the trip)
-Bread, buns, etc. (to put things on)
If you have a cooler, you can also bring:
-Frozen foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. (or something else if you’re a snob…which is not a good thing to be when camping, but I digress)
-Slightly-more-perishable things such as fresh veggies
-Condiments, etc.
Tips:
-If you do bring perishable foods in a cooler, make sure to eat them on the first day. Prioritize.
-Do not under any circumstances warm your canned food in the can. Shrapnel is deadly. Bring a small pot.
-Bring unbreakable dishes. Seriously. Sheeait happens.
-Bring enough water! Do not trust streams or lakes unless they have been tested and there is signage attesting that fact. You could get sick. Real sick (Reeeaaal iiiick…so doncha put it in your mouth). But 1990′s kids commercials aside, it is true. How much water is enough? Eight glasses a day is a myth. One of those big old gallon jugs is enough for two of me a day, but you might be a thirsty person, or you might be especially active, or eating salty food. Take extra, just in case. Aqua Vitae, and all that.
-It gets coooold out at night. Bring warm clothes and sleeping bags.
-Annoyed by bugs? Lotionize.
-Real campers sleep on the ground. Bring a little foam mat to counteract roots, if you are feeling dainty.
-Is it sunny where you are right now? If so, sunscreen. Especially if camping also involves swimming. There is no suffering like a full-body sunburn.
